Following a brilliant summer playing John Kennedy’s Radio X Summer Party; the BBC Introducing stage at Reading & Leeds; as well as Electric Picnic, Irish-born, indie artist, Somebody’s Child returns with arguably his best track to date, the brilliant Jungle.
Using his music as a platform to maintain a conversation on mental health, Somebody’s Child frequently finds solace in songwriting and is not afraid to address, and share his personal aperture.
“Jungle to me provokes different feelings than my previous releases, such as loneliness, anguish, hurt and isolation. Its message is clear. It is a reflection of the times we are living in. We have political and economic facades thrown in our face everyday. My generation feels disillusioned in its relationship with authority due to the circus going on right from the top figures down to the media broadcast in our homes. No-one seems to have any direction and this feeling is filtering into our minds. Our heads continue to focus on power, money and legacy while our planet is weak at the knees and mental health is in abundance."
He’s also made a considerable impression with over 12 million listener impacts through radio, and online, with flattering reviews from such tastemaking blogs as Clash, EARMILK, Atwood Magazine and many others, reaching No. 1 on Hype Machine chart, landing numerous Tracks of the Day, and earning placements on the coveted Spotify editorial playlists ‘Hot New Bands’ and ‘A Breath of Fresh Eire’.
