SOPHIE is all of these things, and so much more. SOPHIE is Sophie Long, a Scotland-born, Los Angeles-based pop musician and artist.
She broke out in 2012 with "Nothing More To Say," a lurid dance-pop twist on house music. But it wasn't until her subsequent singles, "Bipp" and "Lemonade," that she emerged as a fully-formed hyperreal pop star, blending U.K. dance music rhythms with maximalist cotton-candy synthesizers and helium-inflated high pitched vocals. Now, after a two-year absence, SOPHIE has returned with "It's Okay to Cry," a burst of deeply emotional neo-pop, her voice front and center, all affectations left behind.
