"There are things known and things unknown, and in between are the Pink Twins."
Pink Twins was formed in 1997 by brothers Juha and Vesa Vehviläinen, electronic musicians, audiovisual artists and filmmakers born and raised in Helsinki, Finland. Searching for their form in the hotbed of arts and underground music that was turn-of-the-millennium Helsinki, their early dabblings in experimental music were informed by awareness of noise music, a misunderstanding of free jazz and appreciation of dub techniques. Over time Pink Twins have polished their output into a distinctive and superimmersive audiovisual mayhem. Call it chaos mongering, ambient gone wrong or the New Wave of Finnish New Age, the sound of Pink Twins is as instantly recognizable as it is elusive of classification.
2005's Intercontinental Catapult - Live At Teatro La Fenice, Venice documents a sample-heavy concert at the legendary opera house in Venice. In 2010 Pink Twins' vinyl debut Four Million Suns adds a kosmische dimension in the mix. 2016's Return of the Real Real was released on the International CDR Day and presents a hazy analog/digital mix of psychedelic bliss.
In 2017 Pink Twins launched Infinity, an online audio platform hosted by Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art. Infinity contains a decade's worth of Pink Twins' studio multitrack recordings that users can mix to create endless amounts of custom songs. As companion releases for the online work, Pink Twins released the albums Infinity parts 1–5.
