In 2016, Finbury emerged onto the Latin Music scene when a cut from his first album “Imaginário” called “A Chama Verde,” was nominated for a Latin Grammy for “Song Of The Year.”
In 2017, John released his second Brazilian jazz album “Pitanga” featuring Marcella Camargo to critical acclaim.
John released a Chamber Jazz project of original instrumental music called “American Nocturnes: Final Days Of July” on May 1, 2020. The Nocturnes feature Eugene Friesen (cello) Tim Ray (piano), Claudio Ragazzi (guitar), Roni Eytan (Harmonica) Roberto Cassan and Vitor Gonçalves (accordion) and also John on piano. A new Latin jazz album of John's music called "QUATRO" featuring Mexican jazz singer Magos Herrera, together with the powerhouse trio of Chano Domínguez, John Patitucci, and Antonio Sánchez premiered on May 20, 2020.
