It started as just a girl playing sad songs on her ukulele, hoping they reached someone in some positive way.
I decided to put together a selection of songs to re-record in GarageBand, chosen for their relevance to the familiar feeling that things, people, and situations are out of reach. I put these 10 songs into an album called “Chasing Butterflies” — butterflies being beautiful but incredibly fragile creatures that flutter around in the sun, seemingly without aim.
And, what happens if you catch one? At best, you keep it captive for a few days until it eventually dies. Or, you can water your garden and let the butterflies come when and if they want to, at the risk of a lonely existence waiting for them and at the risk of them leaving before you want them to.
My personal music loves at the moment are Enter Shikari, Mumford & Sons, Tom Rosenthal, and Manchester Orchestra. (This is not an exclusive list.) My ultimate life anthem is Silk by Wolf Alice.
