‘As a woman and musician, I want to dig into the broad spectrum of female sexuality and all that comes with it,’ Belle explains. ‘You see – women can exploit their femininity to get things done. At the same time, it is also their weakness. As Oscar Wilde once said: “Everything in this world is about sex, except sex. Sex is about power.” It’s this contrast that I try to explore, in both my private life and through songwriting.’
On stage, Belle’s goddess-like alter ego Qetesh comes to life, as a reference to the eponymous Egyptian goddess of sacred ecstasy and sexual pleasure. She appears through symbolic visuals and sensual movements, immediately captivating the audience. Influenced by strong performers such as Lana Del Rey, Leonard Cohen, and Grace Jones, Belle dares to show all sides of her poetic yet provocative personality, as her tracks are wrapped in a layer of cross-cultural symbolism and femininity.
In 2022, Belle and The Beats gradually releases their debut album Qetesh.
