Occasionally, an artist emerges already fully formed, somehow leaving no doubt as to whom they are musically, and where they’re heading.
No one fits that description better than Szjerdene. Her voice is both earthly in its soul and celestial in its purity: soothingly familiar, and yet unmistakably distinct. Her first official EP ‘Patchwork’ dropped in 2013 via Ninja Tune, to considerable critical acclaim. It soon caught the ear of Simon Green, better known as Bonobo, and hot on its heels followed a collaboration on his fifth studio album ‘The North Borders’. Despite embarking on an exhaustive world tour that took in 175 shows over the course of 18 months, she quickly amassed a second body of work, and by late 2014 she was back in the studio once again. The result was her second EP ‘Paragon’, presented in its blissful entirety in 2015. Featuring three singles co¬-written with Lapalux, it comprised six original tracks, each sequentially unveiling its own related tale of love, loss and self¬ discovery. Szjerdene's spellbindingly pure voice and stirring melodies collide seamlessly throughout, their signature frameworks resulting in a sublime, immersive collection. Early 2017 saw Szjerdene back out on the road with Bonobo, touring his Grammy-nominated sixth studio album ‘Migration’.
