Poking fun at their home city's low crime rate, Oxford, England math rockers This Town Needs Guns named their band on a whim in 2004.
Based around guitarist/vocalist Stuart Smith and lead guitarist Tim Collis, the rhythm section rotated several times over the next several years, resulting in a band anchored by bassist Dan Adams and drummer Chris Collis by the time they recorded their 2008 debut, Animals. Jamie Cooper took over on bass soon after, and in 2011, frontman Stuart Smith announced he would be leaving the band to focus on his family, and Pennines singer/guitarist Henry Tremain would be replacing him. The band continued to undergo changes, and after years of having their band name misconstrued as a real sentiment, they changed their name to TTNG in 2013, just after the January release of their second album, 188.8.131.52.0. ~ Jason Lymangrover, Rovi
