Jamie Hylands

  1. 1.
Jamie Hylands is a songwriter and vocalist originally from Banbridge, Northern Ireland.
Jamie moved to Scotland in his late teens and spent most of the next decade playing, promoting and thriving in Glasgow's singer/songwriter scene. Following a number of profile gigs at King Tuts Wah Wah Hut alongside soon-to-be wife, Hollie, the duo stepped away from the music industry for almost a decade.
As fate would have it, a life-changing trip to the mountain village of Masca on the volcanic island of Tenerife, would provide the inspiration to his debut solo single of the same name.
Expecting to return to Scotland as a newly qualified Yoga teacher and ready to start a new career, Jamie found himself enlisting long-term friends, Marco Cafolla (CAFOLLA, Federation Of The Disco Pimp) and Ross Saunders ( Mànran, Federation Of The Disco Pimp) to co-produce the sessions.
The result is a crisply-produced pop groove, reminiscent at times of Icelandic indie hero, Ásgeir, yet the song is undeniably infused with an introspective lyric that could only have been born during those transformative weeks of meditation and asana in the Canarian mountains.
Yogic philosophy champions the idea of remaining present and accepting change as life's one true constant.
In this way, it would be easy to say that Jamie could never have predicted how his path would unfold, and yet understanding the underlying principles of the universe, was it ever in doubt?
