Atlanta based Youth as Gold is guitarist/vocalist Dillon Wilson, drummer Kyle Henshaw, and bassist Johnny Bernd.
Combining elements of garage/psych rock, blues, and southern rock, the freewheeling three-piece has fashioned an electrifying sound that features heavy riffs and blustering rhythms. The band has been likened to artists such as Jack White, Royal Blood, and Rival Sons. They have gained favor amidst the trending appreciation for lo-fi indie artists and the DIY crusade. When Wilson approached Henshaw in late 2015 with the idea of a new project, they were ankle deep in a collection of classic rock cassettes that they had picked up from a local thrift store. Soon after, they began the process of re-composing and recording a handful of demos that Wilson had stashed on an old hard drive, bringing forth their debut full-length record “No Good Sons”. Playing their own brand of dirty, loud, blues inspired rock and roll to packed out rooms in bars, basements and venues in and around Atlanta has only fueled their drive to write more ambitious and unabashed material. In mid-2018 the band revealed plans for their sophomore album, announcing a preceding 4-track EP, “Heavy Agent,” set for release in September, 2018.
