Jeff Slate is a New York City-based songwriter and music journalist who founded the band The Badge, has worked with artists from Pete Townshend to Sheryl Crow, and has contributed music and culture articles to Esquire since 2013.
He is the co-author of The Authorized Roy Orbison and contributed liner notes to the 50th anniversary reissue of The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, as well as to albums by the Small Faces, Shawn Colvin and for the STAX Records 60th anniversary reissue series, among others, and has appeared on radio and TV around the world as both a performer and music expert. His music has appeared on US television shows like Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill, as well as on the BBC, where Jeff has also performed live on numerous occasions. Jeff is an avid collector of original vinyl, video, bootlegs and books on rock and roll, and has an encyclopedic knowledge of all things The Beatles, Bob Dylan and Monty Python.
