Janique is a passionate artist. She grew up not too far from the sea-side in a small town in Trinidad and Tobago, as an only child of a loving and hardworking single mother.
Although it was difficult to break the norm and risk disappointment, Janique decided not to follow the route of going to medical school and pursue her dreams as an artist. She never dreamed she would end up performing eight times a week as 'Nala' in Disney's hit show 'The Lion King' in London. Now an emerging recording artist and songwriter Her musical influences range from legendary Soca artist Destra Garcia, to the sweet soulful sound of Whitney Houston, and the raw and powerful Christina Aguilera. This can be reflected in her style which she describes as a pop/rnb/island sound fusion. Her Caribbean roots, musical taste and background in musical theatre, dance and drama make her adaptable to different styles as a singer/songwriter. Her audacity to follow her dreams, her curiosity, discipline, and openness allowed her to make it this far, and she strongly stands by this message hoping to inspire young girls to be just as audacious. Her new single 'Cupid' is a creative message in song, where she expresses her strength, fierceness and independence as a woman who is also not afraid to recognize and celebrate true love.
