16th October through Dublin label Sad Songs. It will feature two new songs, along with remixes from Jilk and Robin Richards from Dutch Uncles.
Recorded and produced by Orange at his home studio, Fragile is a meticulously arranged gem from the drummer-gone-solo, calling to mind the melancholic pop of The Cure, the hazy psychedelia of Ariel Pink and the artpop/prog stylings of Danish experimentalists, Mew.
It features a combination of organic instrumentation, homemade found sounds/samples and a cacophony of synth layers, ranging from 8bit bleeps to lush soundscapes. It is music that works with light and shade to create a listening environment that is equal parts serene and surreal.
Also working with video, animation and design, Orange has produced an accompanying video and sleeve artwork for the single and EP, creating an immersive audio/visual marriage. 'Fragile' is out on 7th August.
