Their debut album ‘Imprints’ (2017) saw the duo dig deep into their Jewish roots, creating a cinematic trip through contemporary jazz and melodies drawn from across the diaspora. Described by MOJO as ‘Arrestingly different’ the group had several festival dates, radio appearances (BBC/JAZZ FM), a highly successful UK tour and a 7” single release with British label ‘Gearbox Records’, featuring two tracks from the album.
Their most recent offering 'Life Long', a 5-track self-produced EP, builds on their signature sound and has a strong focus on lyricism, production and hooks akin to the likes of Little Dragon, James Blake and Thom Yorke. Joined by long time collaborators; drummer Ben Brown, bassist Andrea Di Biase and the creative stellar work from mixer Alex Killpartrick, the EP also sees a new collaboration with electronic producer Mark Cake on the self-titled track ‘Life Long’. Leaving the door open to new sonic possibilities, Bahla’s identity continues to bloom with discovery whilst being grounded in rich traditions.
