Where does Savak fit in? Three guys in their 40s, living in New York City, married with children...
clearly they don't worry about it.
They’ve been in bands for decades — Obits, Holy Fuck, The Cops, Edsel, Enon, Virgin Islands. Making records, playing shows, finding their way to places where there are other music people so they can take notes, assemble lists, look at maps, and do it all again. This is what they do. And they keep getting better at it.
It covers a lot of ground. Everything from Sister-ish noisy careeners and Halloween-type of surfy 80s hardcore nods to slightly glammy, mid-period stompers by The Fall and straight-up, Tall Dwarfs-inspired, guitar-pop songs. And that's just in the first 10 minutes of side one. Then there's some psych action, post-punk drone... and a few tender jams too, including a beautiful horn outro at the end of side two that feels inspired by Out Of The Cool or Afrique.
