"Not done until it's over. Not over until it's done..."
Very simple words they may be. But this partictular phrase can sum up the overall mentality that the members in COUNT YOUR DEAD live by. After spending almost half a decade trying to recover and rebuild the foundation they once had, it would seem at times that the future of the band was in uncertainty. The origin of Count Your Dead dates back far to around the year of 2003 whenever vocalist Jonathan Haubert and Julio Salazar formed their first band together in the little small town of Port Lavaca, TX. Little did they know, but this would eventually end up being something they would work their whole lives toward.
Throughout the span of their first group DOWNLIFT, there were times filled with joy and grim alike. But as time would pass, Jonathan and Julio would end up parting ways. Jonathan would start a new project entitled EuQiNu, and Julio would take some time off from music altogether. After a 3 year break, he would jump back in the mix with a new drummer from Palocios, TX known as Paul Riccio. Ignoring all genres and sub-genres alike, Julio and Paul would create what would be the early formation of COUNT YOUR DEAD. Pissed off, In-Your-Face Metal. Bare. Honest. Raw.
Although there have been various lineup changes throughout the band's timeline, the spirit remains the same. Never count them out. Just when you think they're dead and gone, they come back with a vengeance.
Count your dead. Because you've missed a few.
