At the age of 20, Mallory Merk re-enters the fray with a new EP Strangers, with a streetwise, unpolished voice gliding over skittering beats and guitar reverb.
Using songwriting as a means to hold herself to account, Mallory doesn't sugarcoat the experience of growing up in America. She talks casually about her struggles but never from a place of victimhood. She's relaxed, grateful, eyes open, heart ready to receive the love she knows she deserves. Her music is intended to cut through the pretty dreams and false perceptions. It's her raw vision; intimate, relatable, and comforting. She lives in LA now but cut her teeth in New York City as a model. Her new work is a coming-of-age EP of grunge-y soulful jams. It's an extreme document of growing pains that's softened by a soft rock cloud couching the melodies and stories.
