First stepping out onto the local music scene as one-third of the band Painting with Ella, Guthrie now performs solo and as the front-woman of Emily Nancy Guthrie & the Wildflowers. She has performed many times around Edmonton and Alberta, most notably at the Calgary, Canmore, and Edmonton Folk Festivals, and graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree from Edmonton’s MacEwan University in 2015.
In 2017, Guthrie relocated to Vancouver, British Columbia, to pursue a graduate education in Archival Studies. Now living back in Edmonton and working as an archivist by day, she delights in the hidden riches of forgotten letters, photographs and scrapbooks, and the very human stories that are stitched into the seams of personal records. A nostalgic and sentimental soul, Guthrie strives to evoke the same interest in her audience through the shared experiences and familiar emotions woven throughout her songs.
