madam cj began her entertainment career in Atlanta,Georgia as a club kid,makeup artist and GoGo dancer for legendary DJ Nabs (he gave her the name "Madam CJ") at Club Kaya and Crescent Room with Dj's Drama and Sense.
In 2001, she was chosen to be one of 26 contestants out of 1,000 girls across America. The competition was for the very first music reality TV show on the WB Networks, "PopStars". There she honed her skills and realized she was better suited to be a solo artist. Around this time, she worked with India Arie,Anthony David, Donnie and El Pus. She recorded background vocals on Virgin Recording Artists El Pus' "Hoodlum Rock" and danced for many local artists at that time.
Madam CJ has been writing and performing with her live music outfit since 2003. In 2010 and 2013 she opened for Janelle Monae with,Rahbi Raw. She received Grammy consideration for "Best New Artist" for her EP "That's Madam 2 U!" and became a member of the Recording Academy. In 2017, she got a chance to work with Martin Sheen and Chiwetel Ejiofor in the Netflix film, "Come Sunday", the story of Bishop Carlton Pearson. In 2018, she hosted the AfroPunk ATLANTA festival Green Stage. In 2019,she is featured in Killer Mike's Netflix show, "Trigger Warning." She will re-release her house music project, "Juke" with new tracks, in Summer 2020. . Her mission has always been to empower girls and women with her music. This mission and her own uterine fibroid diagnosis has led her to menstrual advocacy.
