New Orleans, Louisiana angular indie rock outfit Lawn seem like an unlikely hype.
The duo consisting of Mac Folger (guitar/vocals) and Rui De Magalhães (bass/vocals) began to write songs in a very sporadic manner, completely disregarding any particular direction or social media ambitions. After tapes of their 2016 debut EP "Big Sprout" began popping around scenes in the south and northeast, Lawn solidified themselves into something formal.
Stemming from different parts of the globe (Nashville and Puerto La Cruz), Folger and De Magalhães found a middle ground in skewness. Heavily influenced by kiwi pop acts like The Bats and The Clean as well as British post-punk pioneers Swell Maps and Wire, Lawn maintains a balance of classic pop sensibilities and sharp, curious energy. After supporting artists such as Hoops, together PANGEA, and The Drums, one has yet to see where Lawn is going. However, something remains clear: Wherever they're headed, Lawn will keep you on your toes on the way there.
