Rob grew up in South East England, played in a diverse array of bands. In his mid-twenties he moved to the US and split his time between teaching and performing with his jazz/blues group Rob Garland & The Blue Monks. The band released several albums of original music and played hundreds of gigs at festivals and clubs as well as international television and radio performances. Currently Rob lives in Los Angeles where he writes & performs with various musicians including his group Rob Garland's Eclectic Trio and jazz band Catatonic.
Rob is a guitar instructor for TrueFire, with an online interactive classroom Guitar Babylon, an Artist Channel:Babylon, Private Lessons and courses entitled The Guitarist's Pentathlon, Chord Navigator: CAGED Triads and a foundry course entitled Melodic Soloing: The Major Scale.
Rob also teaches via Skype and records session guitar parts from his studio in Los Angeles and writes music at Bad Robot.
