MOMO absorbed many influences from his youth spend between Brasil, Angola and the USA, and from his more recent metropolitan stays in Chicago, Barcelona and Rio de Janeiro. That led to a melodic diversity that runs through his five albums: “A Estética do Rabisco” (2006), “Buscador” (2008), “Serenade of a Sailor” (2011), “Cadafalso” (2013) et “Voá” (2017).
His cosmopolite work has been internationaly aclaimed. Patti Smith loved Cadafalso, whereas David Byrne very recently mentioned listening a lot to MOMO's last album.
The artist's velvety voice spreads over an intimist folk that goes from the more psychedelic “Preciso ser pedra” (album Buscador) or “Leão” and “Tão Feliz” (album A estética do Rabisco) to the more acoustic “Uu” and “Arte” (album Cadafalso).
On his last album, Voà, produced by Marcelo Camelo (Los Hermanos), MOMO goes from a protean contemporary Samba in « Nanã » with an african vibe, to the very poetic « Pensado nele ».
He also pays tribute to Portugal, where he actually lives, in his duo « Alfama » with the Fado singer Camané.
MOMO's next album is to be released in Spring 2019.
