Camilla Mathias is a British/Romanian singer, classical guitarist, composer, actor, linguist, lyricist & artist.
Driven to connect between borders and across cultures, she has performed in French, Italian, German, Swiss German, Spanish, Russian and Sanskrit; composed additionally in Romanian, Portuguese, Catalan, Greek and Basque, and reached audiences in over twenty-three countries. She threads together charismatic chanson, flamenco-folk and baroque-dream-pop, balancing sensual ballads decorated with her classical guitar roots, and entertaining autobiographical ditties to which everyone can relate; either un-plugged and pared down, or atmospherically mixed up in a loop-station. Her work has varied from performing live for BBC6 Music (with Chris Hawkins describing her as ‘a beautiful, captivating and delicious chanteuse’), recording with film composer Yann McCullough (Spectre, Grand Hotel Budapest), providing guitar for C4’s Award-winning Unreported World series, composing and performing her songs in the new London stage adaptation of Lorca’s Blood Wedding, and having her Romanian-Language track Sunt Româncâ selected for charity album Mitra Music For Nepal produced by Annie Hogan ( Marc Almond).
Camilla’s debut album Entr'acte is now in its third edition and the next project is underway, which will be a conscious exploration of the vibrations of Sanskrit. She recently released the music video for her most popular download Time That Is Mine which can be found on YouTube.
