With her previous single Touchdown, Inge van Calkar has scored a massive radio hit. On Dutch public broadcaster Radio 2, this first single from her upcoming EP Full Color acquired the Top Song status. Get Out Of My Way, the second single is out now. The songstress from Groningen, who’s always dressed in white, has souped up her already impressive electropop. She wrote the rebellious tune together with Radboud Miedema (known from Reality by Lost Frequencies) and producer Gordon Groothedde, so an absolute top sound is guaranteed.
Get Out Of My Way is about that situation we all know: being too modest for your own good. ‘I have stood in line for too long, waiting for my turn to come. That’s outrageous,’ says Van Calkar. One thinks, she shouldn’t have to wait at all, with such a big radio hit under her belt. She sounds rather irritated in the chorus: ‘Get Out Of My Way, Liar!’ She comes across like a frustrated child on the schoolyard, who furiously calls all passers-by liars. She is angry with anyone who wants to stop her. ‘But just as well I’m angry with myself, because I was waiting,’ she admits. Aforementioned lyrics on a pounding electro synth riff make a great sing-along. The anger will vanish in favour of a good mood.
