Spence Hood is a Seattle-based singer-songwriter making melodic, lightweight guitar- and piano-driven acoustic pop jams with flares of jazz and R&B.
Arriving in early 2018 with his debut single, Ransom, and subsequent 4-song EP, Lemon Juice, Spence has his sights set on another EP release this winter.
In the summer of 2017 Spence came back from a long, rather sad “vacation” with a broken heart and a serious need for a new distraction. He was ready to do one thing; ready to prove a girl wrong about his musical potential. So, he dared himself to release an EP while working full time as a techie in Silicon Valley, and after that release there was no looking back. As a recovering programmer, his playful on-stage vibe is just what you get when you hand a worker bee with a lot of pent up adrenaline a mic. While he’s been playing shows as a solo act since 2013, Spence has been performing professionally for 12yrs. He’s sung lullabies on a children’s’ album, performed at the Miss Colorado Beauty Pageant with his college a cappella group, and plenty in between.
Spence is currently performing locally around Seattle and finalizing plans for his next project. Aside from his own music, he also produces an Instagram series “Spencetunes” wherein each week he takes on a new musical artist or theme and posts Spence-ified arrangements of three corresponding hits. His musical influences include Nat King Cole, Queen, and (more contemporarily) Jason Mraz.
