MICKY is the moniker under which singer and songwriter Michael Persall creates Motown-tinged Pop music with a classic rock and soul aftertaste.
Known for his vibrant and energetic stage performances, MICKY has asserted himself as a true frontman while playing with his band around New York City for the past 4 years attending NYU. Growing up in a family-run Bed & Breakfast in Monterey, CA, MICKY was exposed to a wide variety of people and tastes at a young age. He began performing the classics his parents turned him onto for guests staying at the B&B, leading him to discover his love for performing. By high school, he started writing his own music on guitar and piano, as well as recording Hip-Hop influenced tracks with his older brother. MICKY's music is best described as genre-bending and multi-generational in appeal, citing influences from Elvis, James Brown, and The Rolling Stones, to Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars, and James Morrison. He recently accomplished a goal of performing over 400 shows in 2015, ending up at 408 gigs total in the year. He is fresh off residencies at Pianos and Rockwood Music Hall, headlining The Studio at Webster Hall, and multiple Sofar Sounds gigs. He's recently received praise from outlets such as CLASH, BAEBLE, and Next 2 Shine, among others. MICKY released his debut stand-alone single, "Candid" early 2017 and it has quickly reached over 800,000 streams on Spotify. The debut, self-titled EP from MICKY will arrive in the fall of 2017.
