Christin Nelson ( The Binaries , fienix , Listener) is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Earth.
He started writing and performing in garage bands in 1994 as part of the underground punk scene in Las Vegas, NV. After studying how multi-tracking worked from guitar magazines and his friends 4-track recorders, he learned how to multi track using old boomboxes from thrift stores. Shortly after he recorded and released his first cassette “0% Down” which was released at Benway Bop across the street from UNLV.
In 2001 he came across the double vinyl single of Ventolin by Apex Twin and immediately went out and bought a Compaq computer, and borrowed a pirated copy of Cakewalk form one of his friends. A few months later he released his first electronica E.P. “Song For Shannon” which featured remixes by Pj Produkt and Corrupt Data. This was also his first commercial release sold in Tower Records stores. His first full length album “Broadcast” was released in 2003 and received frequent rotation Saturday nights on 88.9 KNPR.
From 2007 - 2014 he was the primary songwriter and touring performer in the band Listener, along with Dan Smith.
2017 found him starting a new group The Binaries which is a social science experiment using music to interpret the human psyche.
