Although she is admittedly guarded, Karun is an incredibly influential artist both in Kenya and internationally. Described as one of the most captivating artists in Nairobi by Fact Mag, Karun produces her own music and encourages other female artists to learn production.
Having taken an intentional hiatus from the music scene, Karun recently released a series of singles: Roses featuring Ukweli of EA Wave, Make Believe with the acclaimed Blinky Bill, and the sonically uplifting Glow Up calling for female camaraderie. Glow Up is the first single of Karun’s much anticipated EP Glow which is set for release in January 2020.
Karun’s current sound is an amalgamation of neo soul, contemporary and alternative RnB. She is influenced by Flying Lotus, Kelela, and SZA. The upcoming EP will reveal the essence of who Karun is while allowing her to demonstrate her technical skills as a producer and lyricist.
For one so young, Karun is a tour de force. She is a Berklee College of Music alumni and as one of Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 in 2019 an artist you will never forget.
