Brooklyn-based, alt pop artist Janelle Kroll has a highly resonant voice made for songs anchored in kinetic longing.
She featured on Dennis Ferrer's "Mind Ur Step" upon moving to NYC from her hometown of Chicago in 2013. To follow, she released collaborations with electronic artists Autograf ("Metaphysical") and Moon Boots ("Utopia"), while also writing for Estelle and singing lead vocals on tour with Big Data. Her first solo release in 2014, "Sunny Days", reached Spotify's US and Global Viral Charts and was followed by "Numb" and an interpolation of Joni Mitchell's "Down To You". In 2016 she debuted her first ep, Outsider. This nostalgic collection of songs placed over an electropop/future 80s atmosphere featured the title track along with the Penguin Prison produced "24 Hrs" and duet with morgxn, "Looose". In 2017 she performed on Gorillaz's Humanz and released her followup ep Pretty Lie To Me, adding a new layer of sensuality to her oeuvre with tracks like "Blush (featuring Aalias)" and "How Do You Know Me", accompanied by a burst of exuberant despondency with the uptempo Barricade.
