After a lengthy hiatus, Charles returned in May 2017 with 'Waking Up,' a six track EP detailing his 5 year battle with addiction and mental health. A brutally honest snapshot of a troubling time that BandCamp’s senior editing team saw fit to place on its list of best new hip-hop releases in June 2017. Pairing intricately layered and immersive beats with relentless candour, Charles has been compared to other British urban music acts such as Mike Skinner, Loyle Carner, and Kate Tempest.
