Based out of Cincinnati, The Midwestern was founded in early 2018 by four friends Austin Reid, Mark Szwejkowski, Brendan O’Brien, and Anthony Igel.
The foursome, originally members of Cincinnati folk rock band “Jim Trace and the Makers”, formed the group as a way to satisfy a desire to evolve their sound. The group was looking to incorporate a more electric, indie vibe and infuse it with some of the folk roots they established with JTM.
The group quickly started working on songs for a new album and booked shows under the new moniker. Along the way, they added Adam Forsthoefel, lead guitar and singer for “The Grove”, to the band. The Midwestern have been playing shows across Cincinnati ever since and are looking to debut with their full length album in early to mid-2019.
