Struggling to survive one of the most expensive cities in the world, further desertion seemed likely until a chance meeting between Jon and Kirby Fisher (drums), an Australian who had landed in Vancouver never intending to stay, ignited War Baby as a duo. Sneaking into countless jam spaces, sounds emerged from the duo that combined Aussie punk music with nods to noise rock.
With Brock Allen joining on bass, War Baby's first LP Jesus Horse was helmed by Jordan Koop (recent recipient of Steve Albini's "Masterclass" Session) at his Noise Floor Studio in 2013. War Baby has seen tours throughout Canada, Jesus Horse topping many end-of-year lists (including Huffington Post's top ten Indie albums of 2013), playing in China, being awarded 1st place in Vancouver's Shindig! contest on their 30th anniversary (radio home of Nardwuar) and crushing crowds at festivals like CMW. War Baby have shared stages with local Vancouver legends like White Lung and SNFU and international acts like Dune Rats, Eagles Of Death Metal and Royal Blood to name but a few. Sophomore LP Death Sweats, was released Halloween 2015, recorded by Jordan Koop and mastered by Bob Weston. LP 3 is in the works presently.
