Malasañers is an originally Madrid group now settled in Germany. It fuses Speedfolk with Punkrock Music, and in the process giving it to new twist.
This band is a collection of international working class musicians with the requisite rebel soul needed to bring this unique style of music to life. Malasañers take his name from Manuela Malasaña, the fifteen years old young girl who was killed by French troops in Madrid during the Independence War. The Celtic punks Malasaners release "Footprints", an album that, on the one hand, is in the tradition of kelly-green working-class pub music, but on the other hand incorporates genre-and cross-scene rock music. Despite all its danceability, the album's Rebel soul lyrics not only provide a serious background on proletarian ideals and a peaceful, international togetherness, but also a refreshing, new genre mix.
Malasañers has already played with notable bands in the scene, The Rumjacks, The Real McKenzies, The Mahones, etc., and has played regularly in Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Spain, Portugal and Switzerland, and also in well known festivals like Sziget Festival in Budapest . Music and melodies have been composed by the band, as said before, with a new modern twist which can cross through the borders of Folkpunk and Folkrock with newness and energy.
