In the most remote part of Iceland Between Mountains was formed. A unique combination of folk, pop, Icelandic folklore and emotional retellings of growing up in such a beautiful, unique and remote place as the Westfjords of Iceland.
In the spring of 2017, after only a couple of weeks as a band and having never played a gig before, Between Mountains entered and won the nationwide battle of the bands Músíktilraunir (The Music Experiments), whose former participants and winners include acts such as Sigur Rós, Mammút, Agent Fresco, Vök and more. After their win Between Mountains worked hard on perfecting their live sound and their live shows at festivals such as Iceland Airwaves, Secret Solstice and the annual KEXport showcase concert hosted by KEXP. Their live shows garnered them great reviews from music critics and review sites such as such as David Fricke senior editor of Rolling Stone Magazine and The Line of Best Fit. In 2018 they were chosen as the best newcomer at the Icelandic Music Awards as well as winning best music video at The Northern Wave Film festival for their video for “Into The Dark” which has received over 2 million plays on Spotify.
Between Mountains released their debut album on November 1. in 2019 and was it well received by fans and critics.
