Comfortable with a country twang or softly spoken ballad, Jenny's honest tunes guide listeners through the bittersweet tang of leaving home, the fragility of first love & the importance of family.
"The voice of a lioness, the soul of a sage" - Luka Bloom, Ireland The Grainstore Sessions, her most recent musical offering, is a live visual EP featuring the harmonies of her sisters and award winnin,’ country singin’ Dad; Ron Mitchell. The one-take recording was born nestled amongst one of NZ’s most eclectic art galleries; The Grainstore Gallery, Oamaru. Home to the life’s work of Donna Demente, the Grainstore proved to be the perfect backdrop for the filming of Jenny’s most stripped back release to date. Pre-Grainstore, Jenny’s full length album Wildfires was released to the world in 2018. This 12 track record presented the best of her wisdom and wit through a collection of excellently crafted songs. A smooth narrative that’s equal parts heart-breaking and life affirming. Produced by Sydney's Matt Fell, Wildfires was awarded the 2019 Tui for Recorded Music NZ Best Country Music Artist and nominated for an Australian Golden Guitar in 2020. With recent appearances with Tami Neilson, Julia Deans and Australia’s Felicity Urquhart, it’s clear this is just the beginning for a young artist who, “knows exactly who she is and feels no need to give way,” (The Southland Times).
