Chicago native hip-hop artist, Imran Mandani, loves a good challenge; in the entertainment industry where only a handful of Asians have reached the mainstream, the Windy City rapper enjoys carving his own path.
In the rap genre, trap music currently dominates the charts, but Imran takes an unorthodox approach to his craft. From writing rap verses over a pop ballad to putting poetic prose over a rugged rap instrumental, a listener wouldn't know what to expect, but the style recently garnered interest from a variety of audiences. For Imran, the love for hip-hop started back in eighth grade. Fast-forward to college and he found himself opening for major artists and rapping at university-sponsored events. Despite generating a campus fan base, he put hip-hop to the side until friends encouraged him to visit a studio. The Chi-town rapper is currently working on his hip-hop mix-tape, Patent Pending, which includes rap remixes to some of today's top artists: Linkin Park, Paul Banks, RZA, Trey Songz, Tech N9ne, Wyclef Jean, Cheat Codes, Demi Lovato, Martin Solveig, and Meresha. He has also completed several rap songs for his debut hip-hop album, Mercury Retrograde. The artist is also working on his first pop and rap fusion album, which include songs "You Should Dance", "Beneath the Ocean Tide", "Sunshine Through Rain", "Sunshine Through Rain" Sunset Mix Bonus track with house legend, Curtis McClain, "In Another Dimension" and a work in progress called "Dead on the Inside".
