Northern Canadian singer-songwriter Mark Perry is quintessentially "Canuck". He’s slapped a lot of hockey pucks at 5am, out-pedaled black bears on his mountain bike and worked on trains for the Canadian railroad from his home-base in Smithers, BC.
He crafts alluring songs written mostly about the people, places and events in his rural region and he’s made icons of some of them as a result. From playing hockey on frozen lakes, to trading a car for “two cords of wood & 24 beer”, to that time you were sinking on a BC ferry, Mark Perry’s music will often take you on a Canadian road trip. His rich vocals and guitar are accompanied by everything from accordion and violin to pedal steel and bass. He’s a candid performer and makes a theatre of 500 people feel like they are gathered in his living room.
Over the past two decades, Mark has recorded 11 albums and made impressive forays into the music world, all while working the railway and raising a family. He has a fantastic following in his northwest corner of Canada where he's known as a "storyteller of his time and place" and gets compared to songwriting icons in that regard: “New Jersey has Springsteen, New York has Billy Joel, northern BC has Mark Perry,” states one glowing review.
Mark’s 2018 release, “Right Here”, is his 11th album of new music to date and his 2019 compilation “Recollections” is a collection of 20 songs from his 1st 10 albums. He’s on fire with new material, so watch for more releases in 2019-20.
