My new albums, Passages and Places, move me musically into electronic dance. This is a departure from my first album Arc of Love, which was adult contemporary/easy listening.
The themes though are consistent and reflect the many aspects of my life. While Arc of Love dealt with my thoughts on respect and commitment in love, Passages and Places offer broader themes of the challenges of being a person, especially a woman, in day-to-day living. We’re confronted with a host of decisions, responsibilities, trade-offs, and ever moving targets where in many cases we’re learning as we go.
So I wanted to create empowering, upbeat songs that recognize how much potential lies within each of us, through good and bad times. There are no exemptions to the complexities of living but the sun shines every day, too. Fingers crossed for a bright one for everyone.
