Both tracks were re-released by German tastemaker label Majestic Casual in early 2018 in advance of the issuance of his official debut EP, 'Toothpaste & Orange Juice
,' which came out on August 30. The project is an intersection of sorts: between varying narratives which are present therein, exploring themes that range from introspection and self-doubt to love and lust; between the sonics of Max’s experimental beats music and his pop-influenced, vocal-guided efforts; and between the contrasting emotions which run aplenty throughout the EP as a whole.
Overall, "T&OJ" is forward-thinking and intricate electronica typified – yet the EP retains certain pop sensibilities, a combo which makes for an impressive and infectious result. Its synths are as hard-hitting as they are delicate; its drums are muted but impactful; and its details are colourful – this is a project whose soundscapes capture the many signature elements of Max’s unique, genre-blending sound.
