They Call Me Pistol
Under the Mayhaw Tree
An old soul, multi-instrumental-singer-song writer James McCann is breaking out with his first solo EP, Po’boy Sessions.
The modern day cowboy with a voice reminiscent of Willie Nelson, writes songs that speak to your heart in a tangible way. After an unplanned through-hike of the Appalachian Trail, McCann took the stripped down lifestyle to his music, back to the basics, in a way that fans of all ages can appreciate. Influenced by George Jones, Blaze Foley and Bobby Charles, McCann’s musical repertoire includes guitar, banjo, dobro, pedal steel and tuba (which he played in his college marching band). He’s been a member of the Baton Rouge based band, Brother’s Bear and was the main song writer on their two albums, Say and Walking Each Other Home. Their second album was released from Bomb Shelter Studios in East Nashville. McCann, born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, graduated from Louisiana State University in 2018.
