Born and raised in Chicago, Liz was very shy growing up, and would only sing when her family left the house. Then, with a hairbrush as her microphone, she’d sing to the original cast albums of Hair, Company, and A Chorus Line as well as anything by The 5th Dimension . At 18, she moved to NY with her sister Ann and a year later she landed her first Broadway show, Stephen Sondheim’s Merrily We Roll Along. She later received a Tony nomination for Baby, was the original Ellen in Miss Saigon and for 5 years played Grizabella in Cats, singing “Memory.” Liz has provided the singing voice for numerous animated movies, but her favorite is Anastasia.
Her extensive concert career has included appearances in London, Paris, Australia, China and just about every city in the US. She regularly tours with Stephen Schwartz as well as her sister Ann, and has had the pleasure of singing with Jimmy Webb, Paul Williams, and Johnny Mathis. Liz has recorded 6 solo albums including her latest, The Essential Liz Callaway, and is featured on many others including Sibling Revelry and Pasek and Paul’s A Christmas Story.
