Dallas via Madrid native J. Bonigno blends folky melodies into lyrically-driven indie rock. After years of consecutive SXSW appearances, multiple releases with mathy Austin rockers Sea Engine, and playing around the local Texas and LA circuits, J.Bonigno released the critically acclaimed DIY folk-rock Life Gets in the Way in mid-2015.
Following a move to Los Angeles and joining the ranks of the iconic tastemakers KCRW, J.Bonigno hit his creative stride on his second full-length record Dos, where the multi-instrumentalist reflects upon the duality of his upbringing-split between his family across the vibrant towns of Spain and the charming serenity of the Texas plains. Split between jangly guitar riffs and reflective moody piano chords that recall the likes of solo contemporaries Tobias Jesso Jr. and Andy Shauf, 'Dos' brings to light a personal account of growing older as an American immigrant.
Dos was quickly followed up by an EP from Bonigno's psychy San Minotauro side project in late 2017.
