Comprising seven works of candid, clouded folk music arranged and presented alongside seven paintings with elements of figurative art and symbolism, Here, FEF's debut album expands on the elusive point where personal experience and musical heritage intersect.
A cross-pollination of Western ambient influences with Eastern and world music, FEF crafts a hypnotic, clouded debut record, meticulous in his orchestration and candid in his expression. Employing a variation of instruments, HERE paints a personal journey through the artist’s musical heritage, balancing inner forces of destruction in a winding path towards redemption. Form is repetitive, kaleidoscopic almost, creating a circular progression of hushed vocals, evocative soundscapes and soaring chords. Though oftentimes dark and seemingly foreboding, it translates the burden of existence into an electrifying experience, eventually redemptive in its execution. Revealing itself in a sustained sway of acoustic mindfulness and amplified paroxysm, it strikes a balance between modern minimalism and traditional instrumentation.
