22 year old singer songwriter, Cassidy Zahar, wows crowds with her fierce, distinct, and unique voice.
She's rooted in country and folk, but loves performing in all genres including R&B, blues and jazz. In spring of 2020, Cassidy graduated from MacEwan University with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz and Contemporary Popular Music with a major in Vocal Performance. She is currently studying her Masters Degree in Music Management at the University of Sheffield in England.
Highlights from Cassidy’s young career so far include being featured in an all-women’s showcase, ‘Drop The Mic: Girls Tour,’ in March 2018 with her folk and blues band ‘Cassidy and the Sundance.’ She opened for country band Doc Walker in February 2018, country singer Brett Kissel in June 2016, and country singer Tim Hus in March 2016. Cassidy was nominated for “Female Entertainer of the Year” and “Fan’s Choice” awards from 2015-17 by the Alberta Country Music Association. In 2013, Cassidy flew to Nashville to compete in the ‘North American Country Music Awards International’ competition where she won all of her categories.
In recent years, Cassidy has performed in festivals such as ‘Come By The Hills’ (2014), ‘Big Valley Jamboree,’ (2012-15), ‘Kaleido Fest’ (2018), and the Edmonton International Film Fest (2019). Cassidy often performs at Halley’s Club where she is a member of the house band in the Starlight Casino.
Cassidy has recorded and released two full length albums, “This Is Me,” (2011) and “Tide,” (2016).
