Toronto duo ROMES is brothers Jacob and Nicolas Bitove. The pair possess an undeniable, natural chemistry that's helped them craft a sound that weaves in and out of genres, presenting an exciting, fresh take in the alt-pop space.
"While the production is lush and the vocals silky smooth, it's the varied instrumentation and the juxtaposition of emotive lyrics against a pop backdrop that lay the foundation for this group's appeal” praised Earmilk.
2020 has seen ROMES adopt a true DIY approach to their projects - releasing new music every month, the brothers produce & mix their own songs, design all of their cover art and merch, and direct and edit their music videos. The independent duo recently attracted the attention of Foster The People's Mark Foster to collaborate on their feel-good, nostalgic summer anthem, ‘Lose My Cool’, out now.
ROMES continue to build off the success of their debut album, produced by Grammy-nominated mixing engineer Tony Hoffer (Beck, M83, Phoenix). Their debut single ‘Tryna Be’ reached a Top-25 spot on Canadian Contemporary Hit Radio, earning ROMES a Best New Artist nomination at the Canadian Radio Music Awards. Their music has also featured on EA Sports’ Madden, NBA on TNT, and Sirius XM’s Alt Nation. ROMES' alternative genre-bending style has led them to the main stage at Austin City Limits, play direct support to The Strokes last summer, and collaborate with the likes of Paul Meany (Twenty One Pilots) and Jason Suwito (Sir Sly).
