Mx Blouse combines a variety of influences – electronic, R&B, hip-hop, kwaito, house – and blends tales both personal and universally relatable, rapping in both English and their native isiZulu language.
The artist's first foray into music was through DJ'ing at small parties in Cape Town, which is around the same time they started looking for producers to work with. They soon started working with a friend, Joni Blud, and this resulted in a few rap tracks that kickstarted Mx Blouse's music career in earnest. They would soon go on to collaborate with Thor Rixon, and in 2017, worked with Rixon, Albany Lore and Jakinda on "Is'phukphuku", their breakthrough underground hit named by OkayAfrica.com as one of the best South African tracks of the month for May 2017. Going forward, Mx Blouse is experimenting with kwaito and electronic music influences in the hope of creating an innovative, and unique take on the music they grew up listening to, and to further advance the kwaito genre, specifically, into the future.
