Following in the footsteps of groups like Hillsong United and Jesus Culture, New Hope Oahu bring their own unique flavors to the praise & worship style, adding the sounds of Polynesian lyrics, ukulele, and nylon-string guitars to the genre.
Based out of the New Hope Christian Fellowship in Honolulu, Hawaii, Pastor Wayne Cordeiro introduced the group in 2013 with the live album Hope Is Alive. Their exotic take on CCM pop was further developed on their first studio album, 2014's Victorious, which reached number one on Billboard's Praise & Worship Albums chart. That same year, New Hope Oahu released a collaborative album with New Hope's Youth Performing Arts Center. After signing with the Capitol-affiliated Dream Records, they returned in 2015 with the more contemporary-sounding Greater Together. In 2017 the collective released a concert EP, Live at the Blaisdell Arena, as well as a new studio album, Kingdom. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi
