Los Angeles-based rock duo Sleep Machine is gearing up for a busy 2018. Since vocalist and songwriter Alisha Zalkin and guitarist, songwriter and producer Dan Kalisher started the band in 2014, they have had 20+ original song placements on several network and cable TV shows and commercials.
Sleep Machine has earned 2 LA Music Critic Awards, and their song ‘Wild For You’ was nominated for Best Rock Song at the 15th annual Independent Music Awards in 2016. After releasing two EPs (2015’s ‘Cover Me In Gold’ and 2016’s ‘Animal High’) and playing all over the LA club scene, they retreated from the stage to get in touch with their roots. “We were trying to think of what to say next, and what direction we wanted to take moving forward,” says Kalisher, “and we found the best way to do that was just to stay true to ourselves.” Drawing influence and comparisons to bands like Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac, and The Eagles, Sleep Machine is poised to be rock and roll’s next great band. “With the current political climate and all the choas happening in the world, we felt it was our responsibilty as artists to use this next record as a vehicle to speak up and add value, meaning, and heart to the coverstation,” says Zalkin. They will be releasing their debut album one song per month for the entirety of 2018.
