Rebecca Lappa is a 2015 Canadian Folk Music Awards recipient and 2015 Edmonton Music Awards winner. The Judges’ choice for the CBC Searchlight 2018 Top 100, her music is a blend of folk, pop and rock, that showcases her powerful vocals, storytelling, and thought provoking lyrics.
In Dec/17, Lappa released her folk-rock EP, “Spirit” that was nominated for a 2018 Edmonton Music Award for Roots/Folk Recording of the Year. It features “Valiant of Vimy" that won the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta’s Spirit of Vimy contest. Lappa performed “Valiant of Vimy" at the Global TV televised Remembrance Day Ceremony at the Butterdome for 5000 people. According to Earshot, the EP reached #1 on Edmonton’s CJSR Top 30, Kamloop’s CFBX Roots chart, Victoria’s CFUV Folk/Roots/Blues chart and it peaked at #6 on The National Top 10 Folk/Roots/Blues chart. “Spirit” is a follow-up to her Factor funded Adult Alternative CD, “Reckless Heart”. Debuting at # 1 on Edmonton’s CJSR’s Top 30 and #10 on iTunes Singer/Songwriter Album chart in Nov/16. It charted on campus radio across Western Canada plus 5 weeks on Thunder Bay's CILU Top 10 Folk/Roots/Blues Chart. Her Juno winning producer Russell Broom was nominated for Producer of the Year for this CD at the 2017 WCMA. 2 songs on the CD got songwriting recognition: Crawl- winner of the 2015 Calgary Folk Festival Songwriting Contest and a Honourable Mention in the 2018 Canadian Songwriting Competition and Bonnie and Clyde- was a semi-finalist in the 2017 ISC.
