Rhys Lewis is a 26-year-old singer/songwriter from Oxford. He plays electrifying soul music inspired by the likes of Marvin Gaye, Bill Withers and Aretha Franklin but with a distinctively contemporary edge.
His debut EP ‘Bad Timing’ is set for release on 23 February, with a full length album to follow later this year.
For the past 2 years, since signing to Decca Records, Rhys has spent time working and collaborating in London, Nashville, Stockholm, LA and Berlin, allowing him the time and experience to develop a maturity to his song-writing, fusing a rich soulful tone with a lyrical immediacy that comes straight from the heart. Rhys has an undeniable gift to sum up his own emotions in a way that will strike a chord with anyone, and has already garnered a troupe of loyal fans in the UK as well as internationally.
The past 12 months have been a whirlwind to say the least for the singer and multi-instrumentalist, performing to sold out crowds in the UK and across Europe, as well as supporting James TW and JP Cooper on their European tours last year.
His latest release ‘Bloodstains’ was added to 16 international ‘New Music Friday’ playlists on Spotify, and his previous track ‘Be Your Man’ was streamed 1 million times in 4 weeks. His debut track, ‘Waking Up Without You’ soared to the No.1 spot on Spotify’s Viral Chart, and he has racked up a total of 20 million streams in total just one year after his first release.
